Have you done jigsaw puzzles before? What guided you to complete the jigsaw puzzle? Probably you have to constantly look at the completed picture as you piece-up one by one. Let’s do another jigsaw puzzle. This time, the completed picture is shown to you once only and taken away. Can you complete the puzzle? Well, unless you have a photographic memory, you will take a much ,much longer time or you may not even be able to complete it…. if it is a 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle.
Life is like the jigsaw puzzle. At some stages in our lives, we are tested on our competency in managing relationships, managing health, managing money, managing the higher purpose in life. Each of these areas is very much like the individual pieces of the jigsaw puzzle. Suppose you advance your time forward for now? Imagine 5 years from now and 10 years from now. For each of the categories, what are the outcomes you desire? Write down these goals. For example, for money, if you are earning $30,000 per year now, you may desire to earn $100,000 and $500,000 in 5 and 10 years respectively. You have got to write them down. They represent the completed picture, like the jigsaw puzzle. If you do not write the goals down, it is as good as seeing the completed picture once. Hopefully by now you realized that you have to constantly look at the completed picture( your goals) in order to complete your jigsaw puzzle( goal setting ).
Not convinced that you have to write down your goals? Perhaps some data may cause you to re-think. There was a case study done in the Yale University in the fifties. 3% of the population in a class had written goals. Twenty years later, the same panel interviewed the surviving members of the class. The 3% has a combined financial value that exceeded the total combined financial value of the remaining 97% of the population who had not written down their goals.
If you are now convinced that you need to write down your goals, the next step is to plan to see them. Let’s do a little exercise to drive home the message. Imagine you are in your sitting room. Look at an object. It has to be about a few feet away from you. The further the distance, the better. Stand up, close your eyes and turn a few rounds. Now walk towards your object. Can you reach it? Now repeat the exercise but this time, after turning a few rounds, keep your eyes open and move towards the object. Can you reach the object? You may stagger or wobble but you will reach your object or goal. So, you see, it is important that after writing down your goals, the next step is that you need to see your target or your goals; otherwise you will not achieve them.
Tip: Make copies of your goals and paste them on your bath mirror, carry a copy in your wallet and paste one beside your pc.
The last secret to achieving your goals is to continue to see, see and see them or focus. This simple exercise will help you understand the power of focus. You are back at your sitting room. Look around for one minute and take note on all objects in brown. Close your eyes now. Recall the number of items….not in brown but objects in blue. See, what you focus is what you get.
There you have it. Just write your goals down.Do it now! Look at your goals as often as you can. Focus on your goals regularly. Three simple steps. Three power steps.
Many people know what to do but few people do what they know. Are you the 3% or the 97%? Your destiny will change, starting today!
Personal Growth & Self Esteem: The bottom line

Personal Growth & Self Esteem
As we search for our ultimate personal growth strategy and improving our self esteem, the bottom line is this…it is all about emotional mastery. Everything we do is literally to make us feel good, feel better, feel more confident etc.
Well, we can say that one of our top priorities in life is to make money. The question then is…what will the money do for us?
Just keep asking yourself ‘what will it do for me’ until you can no longer provide the answer to the question.
Deep, deep down the answers, it is about our feelings or emotions.
For example, the money will provide me with funds to buy a new car. What will the car do for me?..It will make me feel good or it will make me feel successful.
Therefore the formula is: make money= get something to exchange= a higher level of emotion.
Here then is the mother of all questions about how you lead your life…
Are you spending more time to master your emotions or are you spending more time to make money?
Our wheel of life has the same mold. At certain stages of our life we will experience or spend more time in the following main categories…financial, health, relationship, spiritual, emotional.
But all the categories have a common base, which is the emotional element.
So let me ask the question of the century again…..how much time do you spend to master your emotion?
Here is the tip for today on managing your emotions…
There are 3 main pillars that will affect our emotion at any given time.
Alter any one of them, and you can notice a change of state. Alter two or all three at the same time and you get exponential progress.
-Words/Language that you use daily.
-Physiology or how your gestures, body movement.
-Beliefs or your filters that has been programmed into your sub-conscious mind when you were young.
It is very easy to alter your words and physiology. Beliefs require more effort and more knowledge or tools.
For today, think about words that you use frequently…are they empowering or disempowering?
For me, the word ‘problem’ has hardly been used. It has been replaced by ‘challenge’.
For language, do start to be more aware to use questions instead of statements. Excellent communication tool to use to influence people to motivate them or to impart instructions t them.
As an example…if you like to go for a tour and you are thinking ‘I cannot afford it.’ Change it to a question…’HOW can I afford it?’
What happens now? Your mind suddenly seeks for answers instead of deciding that there are no solutions.
For physiology, go to YouTube and search for your favourite model and mimic their gestures, tone etc.
By model, I do not mean those sexy ladies. I mean the role model in each category. So for finance, I’d seek Donald Trump and imitate his gestures.
See if you feel any difference in your emotion when you try to mimic someone.
Enough for today.
Practise raising your standards in mastering your words and physiology for now.
Your personal growth or self esteem or self improvement journey will never be the same again!
Manage your emotions or your emotions manage you.
Donald Trump, Warren Buffet and Other Millionaires

Here is your first tip on Financial Mastery:
Below are some phrases mentioned by Donald Trump, Warren Buffet, T Harv Eker, Dr John DeMartini……
#1: ‘…until you can manage emotion, don’t expect to manage money.’
#2: ‘…it is not how much you earn, it is how much you save and how much you spend.’
#3: ‘..poor people talk about income, rich people talk about networth.’
#4: ‘…everyday, I read the financial section of the newspaper to learn.’
I’ll let you guess who says what.
The phrases are short but extremely powerful. And these are statements from billionaires and millionaires.
For me, playing the stock market or stock options for two years weren’t successful. And it is due to reason #1.
Nine years ago, I used to earn a five figure salary every month. Yet I am not rich. The reason is due to #2.
#3 talks about your assets minus your liability. A house under mortgage should be regarded as a liability because if you sell your house, you still need to find a place to stay.#3 has caused me to raise my standards to earn more money in order to strive for positive networth.
#4 is mentioned by a billionaire. It simply means that we need to continuously learn in order to excel in anything we do.
Internalise the statements and be constantly aware about them for the next one week and see if your thinking starts to shift.
